This role is to serve as a professional accounting support to the Dayton controller. This is a general accountant position with the potential to grow as the business grows and consolidation moves forward with additional functional reporting and staff.

 

Responsibilities:

 

This role must be able to manage daily and stretgic financial inquiries, while operating within two independent MRP systems.  This role wil be a key player in the future consolidation into one MRP system.

 

  • Verifies source documents for accuracy, completeness, authorization, and coding, as well as proper application of fees, refunds, collections, and discounts in order to verify general ledger balances, reconcile subsystems to the general ledger, and identify accounting system problems or weaknesses.
  • Assist in the preparation of journal entries.
  • Assist in preparation of Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
  • Applies accounting theory to account for revenues, expenditures, transfers, account payable, accounts receivable, and inventory in accordance with GAAP to accurately report the results of operations.
  • Supports and maintains a SOX compliant environment.
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality.
  • Assures completion of work in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the Controller

 

Technical and Functional Skills:

 

  • Able to apply accounting knowledge to daily activities in a timely and accurate manner
  • Experience and knowledge with ERP Software and articulate transactions.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills desired, especially Microsoft Excel (i.e. pivot tables, advanced formulas, data sourcing, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to respond to questions in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Critical thinking and analysis to transform data into information for decision making.

 

  • Effectively present information one-on-one, small groups, management team, and other employees

 

 

Qualifications: 

 

Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting and 2 years experience.
