Position Summary: 

The Production Supervisor will supervise assembly operations within the plant to ensure that operational imperatives are met, and drive productivity improvements where possible. The ideal candidate will have experience in leadership and supervision within a high production environment.

 

Essential Duties: 

  • Ensure the execution of operational imperatives within the department to meet Company objectives
    • Uphold and suggest improvements to the EHS policies and procedures in the plant, meeting annual safety goals within your department.
    • Ensure associates follow quality policies and procedures.  Driving improvement in quality performance to meet established goals for your department.
    • Schedule attainment – develop capabilities of the associates to deliver on schedule accomplishment metrics for the plant.
  • Supervise the assembly work force, while providing functional, technical and process leadership.
  • Use technical knowledge and training initiatives to develop and motivate the team.
  • Ensure the execution of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity and Cost initiatives within the Production departments.
  • Communicate expectations to all direct reports; provide direction, instructions, and feedback as well as follow up with appropriate recognition for exceeding expectations.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and safety of the department.
  • Ensure production schedules are followed with on time delivery a key metric.
  • Track and analyze production data to drive the improvement of key metrics.
  • Develop a collaborative relationship with all plant departments.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee work hours, vacation time, and all other time off, and when necessary, take action to correct in accordance with plant policies.
  • Work with HR and Plant nurse for all employee accommodation requests.
  • Complete all reports associated with the position accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Flexibility to cover various departments and shifts may be required.
  • Use leadership, technical knowledge, and training initiatives to create a high performing team, optimizing asset utilization and uptime to meet requirements of the plant.
  • Develop a competent workforce by utilizing hands-on training methods in the work area. Ensure work instructions are current and being followed.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings with hourly direct reports utilizing the shift huddle agenda and discussing the appropriate topics with the group.
  • Complete TMOS training and implement concepts within the department as expected of leaders within the plant.
  • Provide feedback to scheduling on ways to improve throughput while still minimizing waste such as overproduction.
  • Utilize data and daily follow-up to prioritize problems and implement both temporary countermeasures and root-cause solutions.
  • All other duties assigned by direct manager.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Knowledge in coordinating and planning material flow.
  • Proven ability to execute and deliver on short-term and long-term productivity goals.
  • Ability to hold others accountable and drive for results.
  • Ability to drive change and lead continuous improvement initiatives that improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost. 
  • Ability to analyze data to drive decision-making.
  • Willing to work manufacturing hours across three shifts and weekends as needed.
  • Preventative maintenance background and exposure to lean manufacturing and best practices.
  • Proficient use of MS Office, specifically Excel.

 

Education/ Experience: BPreferred Bachelors Degree or 3-5 years experience in leadership.   High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
